Some post Halloween holiday shopping opportunities

Farmers’ market season may be over and winter around the corner but that means Holidays and what better time to enjoy a warm piece of toast slathered with jam or cozy in with a hot cider and a chutney adorned cheese plate.

This weekend there are two great opportunities to get your holiday jams and chutneys;

Alliston Spinner and Weaver Guild Seasonal Wrapsody at the Gibson Centre in Alliston

Friday November 1st from 6-9pm and Saturday November 2nd from 10am – 4:30pm

Mansfield Ski Club AGM

Saturday November 2nd from 9am – 1pm

All the best,

Hannah – your local jamstress

Balsamic Preserved Strawberries – so many possibilities

A sweet ice cream sauce, a savoury glaze for dark meats, an accompaniment to belgian waffles… a dressing?

Try Balsamic Preserved Strawberries as a dressing on a watermelon and arugula salad with feta(raw sheep’s milk feta from Crombie Station would be perfect)  cheese & savour the end of summer with a different take on the classic salty sweet combination.

An end, yet not an end

While labour day may be the unofficial end to summer and carefree school-less days the Farmers’ Market season marches on, braving soon to be chilly mornings and breezy evenings until the Thanksgiving long weekend – so I hope I’ll keep seeing you and keeping your jam cupboard and condiment shelf well stocked !

Wishing everyone a lovely long weekend and a happy start to school
